The Balm Makeup Review
Hi friends im back again. Hope you are all well :) Today im going to review 2 make up products that i picked up while shopping in the Mall. These 2 items are by the company, The Balm that i found in TK Maxx. I purchased the Balm Voyage 2 make up palette consisting of eyeshadows, blushers, bronzer/highlighter & lipglosses and i got a lipstick also by the Balm called kiss my lips Amanda.
Let me start off with the lipstick review. Firstly i have never used any make up by The Balm. These are also rare brands that are not really available in UK. Well i've not really come accross it much myself. The price is ok, as it was £5.99 for this lipstick. The shade is called Kiss my lips Amanda. Its a brownish purple color. Its creamy & quite pigmented. Feels a bit tingly on the lips. Not sure if its suposed to feel like this or am I sensitive to any of the ingredients. The shade of the lipstick on the box shows the color as being purple. But when i openend & swatched the lipstick, it came out as brownish putple. So don't know what that is supposed to mean?? :(
The packaging as i can see with all Balm make up seems to be somewhat comical, with pictures to describe the product with intended puns here & there. They are trying to make an interesting statement about their products by changing the outlook of packaging & promotion. This seems to somehow work into the minds of customers, prompting them to give the product a try or to even get it noticed, which is quite smart. Ok, so the actual look of the lipstick is that the casing is a metallic bullet like case, enclosed in a cardboard box with a comic strip like advert that describes the shade of the lipstick. So in my opinion the lipstick i would say is ok, apart from the tingly sensation.
Moving onto the next product is The Balm Voyage 2 make up palette. This is something quite interesting. Its like a travel size palette that has selected eyeshadows, blushers lipglosses etc all complementary of what a person would take on their travels, except all rolled into a handy palette. I have no idea what the 1st palette looks like, but it would pretty much be like this but with different color shades. Again the packaging is comical with pictures describing women of olden times in different countries. Looks quite pretty. The palette i bought cost me £19.99 and is of decent value. Pigmentation of the eyeshadows, blushers & lipglosses are also of good quality. The kit contains:
9 eyeshadows
1 luminizer
1 Bronzer
2 blusher
And 2 lip/cheek tints.
Overall this is quite a good palette with some nice shades suitable for everyday. In my opinion its not too bad so i guess this would be a nice purchase with pretty much all the shades & make up pieces you you require individually except that the convinience is that its all put together quite nicely in a good looking palette.
So to round it all off, im impressed with The Balm make up. Obviously wont be my number 1 choice in make up compared to other brands but will do well. The best thing i like is the comic packaging. Its good for a laugh.
Rating: 7/10
